Bar Room Banter - The first of 2010

Remember a quote from a few months ago but not quite sure where to look? Looking for an old thread that can no longer seems to exist? The chances are it'll be in here. This is the archive of threads gone by. All the old classics are here - like a fine wine, they've been stored away in the darkness so they can mature.

Kallio not in the squad [bigok]
Surprised at Yeates missing out, but at least we have 2 strikers in there.

Matt Lowton on the bench...I thought he was still out in Hungary. Haven't see in play myself, but apparantly he is a tidy player.

Truly bloody awful, yet again. Never in the game against the bottom club? Kinell it's bad at the minute.

What a load of dangly bits. KB is blaming injuries again. OK, so losing three key players (Ched excepted) in a game is a big blow, but why are we getting so many muscle related injuries. We seriously need to look at our training methods. You can't blame heavy pitches because of the bad winter we've had because other teams have the same issues. Perhaps it's training indoors and then going out on soggy pitches, the muscles aren't toned properly. I'm no expert but KB needs to get someone in. I'm sure I recall Warnock having the same problem and that's why he got Tony Daly in in the end.. Might be wrong..

Palace - 4th bottom - lost. Peterbrough - rock bottom - lost. Plymouth - 2nd bottom - conceded 3 at home. QPR next? That's relegation form KB - sort it out...

Another tough one Saturday. 3 defeats in a row anyone?

Glad the pigs lost as it would have ruined my night proper. They're in deep D'Urso now and whereas before I really couldn't care less what happened to them, now that they've got that nob in charge I can't wait to see them go down and into administration... Always a silver lining eh?

Jesus.

So was it really that bad last night then? I didn't even listen based on previous away games, but it didn't come as a surprise when P'boro scored.

As someone said, losing away to all these teams at the bottom of the league, and starting to leak goals at home? Not great. I honestly think we've lost our shot at the Play-offs this season, which makes it a write-off.

Yes I'm afraid the season's over. Not because we're outside the play-off positions, but because we're playing relegation football when others are picking up their game and making a move up the table.

We could be 12th on Saturday. Yes, we could also be 6th, but it's unlikely. Leicester and Cardiff also have a game in hand and we have to go to Cardiff. We also have to go to Newcastle, Doncaster and the Piggery. I can't see us getting anything there can you?

The top 4 sides will be in there at the end, leaving Leicester, Cardiff, Blades, Blackpool, Middlesborough, Coventry, even Doncaster FFS in the mix. Leicester are 6 points ahead of us with a game in hand, Cardiff are 4 points ahead of us with a game in hand. They look good for the remaining 2 slots but none of the others will give up, and neither should we, but the way we're playing, especially away from home, suggests we already have.

The only positive thing you can take from the situation now is that we're safe.

If we finish 8th or better, then the injuries situation and the Board's wholesale disposal of players will be cited as reasons, and to a large extent you have to have sympathy with Blackwell on both counts. An 8th place finish under the circumstances is a decent enough performance you have to say, but the way we're playing is truly awful and that's down to the manager.

Roma, on the injuries front, first of all KB can't bemoan the loss of Evans because he never played the lad anyway. Second point is 2 of the 3 injuries last night were hamstring problems. You're right mate, something's wrong with either training or at least the way players warm up. Too many muscle strains exacerbating the problem.

Gaffa's (if that's what you can call him) review of last night

United's injury curse struck again with a vengeance in the game at Peterborough leaving Kevin Blackwell scratching his head and wondering how much more his squad can take.

The enforced removal of Evans, Ward and Williamson at various stages of the opening period hugely disrupted the gameplan:

"There was a lot of effort but we didn't create enough chances and those three injuries before half-time did affect us.

"We started lively enough, Ched particularly, but the enforced changes stuffed us with regard to doing some of the things we had wanted to and some of our decision-making was lacking at times.

"I was disappointed with the goal because it was a set-play we have worked on stopping. Henri Camara had to get back to do the marking job that Wardy was meant to have done and couldn't because of his injury.
"But I can't keep blaming the players, there have been so many changes and at the moment this is a difficult scenario to manage in."

Blackwell now has to turn his attention to bringing in reinforcements for the visit of QPR on Saturday:

"Ched Evans has a suspected broken collar-bone and if it is confirmed will be out for the rest of the season. Wardy came over and said he couldn't run because of his hamstring and that took eight weeks last time, and Williamson has the same problem again.

"We are struggling with numbers again and it will be very hard now to bring good players in."

not a single word on how we played just gets to blame the injury's sorry but it doesn't wash any more fat lad it time you got your coat and Crappity Smack off, stand up and be a man!!!
