Pre-Match thoughts:
I massive surprise with Kilgallon in the starting line-up and naming new signing Seip on the Bench added maybe new Hope for the Bramall Lane home fans. Coupled with a virtually un-changed side from the last outing, Camara starting for Harper, as Blackwell chooses his first real attcking Formation of the New Year, Hopefully a taste of things to come.
First Half:
A game of "what do you have to do to score" would be a great title for this Epic First Half, A half that saw The visitors threaten First from Lively Rouledge, Stephen Quinn rattle the Bar from just 5 Yards, Ward, Evans, Simpson and even Old Boy Leigertwood had an Effort as Both sides, Obviously nervous, battled out a Score Draw First Half.
Routledge, who in truth, looked dangerous everytime he touched the ball, Escaped the attentions of Taylor with pace, Power and Guile found himself free down his right but only merely Warmed Bunns gloves within 2 minutes of kick-off. What followed was arguably United's Best spell. Montgomery playing in Position, for a change, and Quinn brought inside from the left with Cresswell and Ward allowed to roam down each Flank, caused no end of problems for the poor QPR Full Backs.
However, it was Taylor who broke the rear guards attention from a Delayed cross to Quinn who volleyed straight at Goal from 5 Yards, only to see his effort bounce off the bar when, in truth, it would have been easier to score with a tap in.
United continue to press with the tide not taming. Block tackles from Gorkss on Cresswell clearly left the Striker in pain, but he chose to continue. Further problems for United came when Kilgallon also received a calculated tackle from Routledge followed by Simpson at the By-Line, but the referee chose to play-on when the ball was cleared by Geary.
United were failing not through lack of trying, the home crowd sensed it and Silence fell on Bramall Lane. Rangers stepped up there game and the tide turned, Routledge again, exposing a very poor Taylor for pace and Skill at every move. A poor breakdown in communication from Quinn and Camara led to the pass from Leigertwood to find Routledge scampering down the right, Already beaten Taylor could do nothing and tracked inside, only for Routledge to Square a great low cross across the Box, through Taylor, Kilgallon, Morgan and Geary to find Simpson unmarked on the edge of the 6 yard box and he made no mistke at the second touch.
