Sheffield United 1 Leicester City 1

Postby S36Reject on Wed Aug 19, 2009 10:23 am

Date: 18th August 2009

Venue: Bramall Lane

Attendance: 26069

Man Of The First Half: Mark Bunn

Man Of The Second Half: Stephen Quinn

Man Of The Match: Nick Montgomery

Referee: N.Miller (5/10)

Blades Line-Up:
Bunn
Walker, Morgan, Kilgallon, Taylor
Montgomery, Howard, Treacy
Ward, Evans, Henderson

Subs:
Quinn, Cotterill, France, Reid, Bennett, Sharp, Bromby

First Half:

A Frantic start for both sides, but it was United to threaten First, A Walker long throw causing Mayhem in the Leicester Box and Wins a corner [bigok] which in turn was Poorly Wasted [steam] The Leicester to their Credit, came with a game plan and stuck to it well! Fryatt and N'Guessan causing massive problems for the United Defense, especially Taylor, who received his First Booking for bringing down N'Guessan [blush] In truth, a Free kick? yes  a Booking? A Tad Harsh :? But it was neither side that took the Spot Light [wtf] The Linesman, Closest to the dug out, was guilty of some seriously Foul and Incompetent Decisions, Decisions that could have Easily broken the United Defenses  He seemed to target Taylor as a Dirty Player [noway] when looking at his game, he was actually being given a torrid time by Fryatt, N'Guessan and the Linesman [yikes] Compounded and Confirmed after out pacing N'Guessan, winning the ball and then being fouled, only for the linesman to give the decision to the Visitors [rtfm] The Ref, after a brief Chat with Taylor, Rightly blew for a Foul Straight after the Ball was played [clap] Ironic cheers coming from the Home Support, That seemed to bring the linesman into line for the rest of the half, as his decisions got a little better [busted]
United attacked with Quality Possession as opposed to Quantity Possession :) Ward, Evans and Henderson, carrying on from Saturday, Linking really well [bigok] Hendersons flick Header bouncing off the Crossbar [exactly] for Taylor to pick up the rebound and snapped at it, inevitably the ball ending up in Row Z
Ward continued to cause problems for Leicester, forcing Wellens into a dirty Foul which resulted in a Booking [yellowcard]
The United Keeper, Bunn, was kept busy too [yikes] Fryatt getting Clear more than once and pouncing on Rare Defensive Mistakes [steam] Taylors Untimely Slip being the most Notable  But Bunn was on hand to Bravely Save at feet [toppie]
The First Half was brought to a close just after Howard, Also having a Terrible Game by all accounts (Injured or just CRAP [whistle] ), received a Booking for a Back tackle, met by Boo's from the Home Crowd [stfu]
HT 0-0 (45+2) Leicester, Probably, the Better Side in relation to Chances [true] But United value for Money [please] Good equal game [goodnevil]

Second Half:

Howard off, Quinn on(45) Ward, still causing problems for the Leicester Defense from the off hit a good shot at Weale, The Impressive keeper Parrying Clear, and Forcing timely block tackles, which resulted in yet another Booking, for Fryatt this time, Just after Leicester took the lead [hellno] Kilgallon making a Rash challenge at N'Guessan just outside the area [yikes] Oakley stepped up and hit a Free Kick which Bunn seemed to have covered, only for the Ball to Hit Fryatts Arse and sending the Ball into the opposite side of the Net [score] [goal]
0-1 Fryatt (52) Fluke [steam]
This seemed to Spark life into United, Henderson and Ward doing a great job, Pushing Forward with Taylor and Treacy creating the Chances [bigok] But it was Leicester who had the next Chance, Oakley firing from long Range, Bunn Equal to the effort, Then Taylor making a great tackle on Fryatt to start the move for the Equaliser [woohoo] Montgomery picking up the loose ball, then threading to Taylor who Scampered down the Left Wing. Treacy moved inside and Taylor found him with a Short Pass, 1 Touch and TREACY hit a Right Foot Pearler around the Outstretched Weale [goal2]
1-1 Treacy(66) What a Goal [cheerleader] [cheerleader] [cheerleader] [cheerleader]
Treacy turned Hero to Near Villain after the Goal, He was fouled on the touch line and felt a little agrieved he didn't get the decision and went in Foot high into the Shin of the Foxes Right Back, Ref, Miller, saw common sense and gave Treacy a deserved Yellow Card, which was his last Contribution, Being replaced by Reid shortly after [phew] Treacy Off [clap] , Reid On [bigok] Good Decision [trustme]
United Dominated here on in [bigok] Walker and Reid being impressive, disecting the Leicester Defense only for Weale, Already proved he was in Impressive Form was the Thorn in the Host Side :| Beating Evans and Henderson to every High Cross that came in [clap] Quinns Free Kick from Oakleys Booked Foul on Ward was Touched over by Weale [respect] and then Another Sweetly Struck volley from 30 Yards by Quinn went a whisker Wide [true] United Continued in Dominence and Cotterill was added to get Extra Pace in the attack, Ward getting another Standing Ovation [clap] Ward off, Cotterill On(88)
Cotterill's first touch was to set up Evans, but the striker made a hash of the chance, But Reid and Cotterill continued to give the Visitors a torrid Closing Minutes, Evans, clearly Tired, sending the last kick of the game straight to Weale [blush]
FT 1-1 (90+4) Treacy(66):Fryatt(52) [goodjob]

Struggling here - don't think anyone had a blinder but I've also seen us play much worse!!

Bunn - 7 - Great save in the first half - couldn't do much about the goal - didn't have much else to do.
Walker - 7 - makes mistakes but his speed gets him out of it.
Kilgallon - 6
Morgan - 7
Taylor - 5 - Scared the hell out of me - stupid booking within 10 mins that put us under pressure.
Montgomery - 7 - Never saw him, which I guess means he had a good game [rolleyes] [rolleyes]
Howard(45) - 4 - simply awful
Treacy(73) - 8 - Great goal from nothing and probably my MoM for that alone.
Ward(88) - 6 - Ran around a lot but he's not a winger
Evans - 5 - anonymous
Henderson - 6 - couldn't have done much more with the service he had
Quinn(45) - 7 - Changed the look of the midfield and credit where it's due, better than of late.
Reid(73) - 6
Cotterill(88) too late to mark - did he really have 6 minutes?

Ok, Rate 'Em [bigok]

Bunn 8, kept us in the game with the one on one save , I dont like my keeper punching it all the time when he can catch it though :?

Walker 9 - terrific performance and ran all night

Kilgallon - 7 Effective without having to much to do

Morgan 7 Again, no particular flashes of anything other than steady and reliable

Taylor 7 Kept the black kid down the right quiet and got no help from the linesman

Montgomery 6 Was over ran in midfield in the first half and passing/ shooting was as awful as ever

Howard(45) 4 terrible performance, If tonsallitis was to blame he should never have been allowed near the game. Passing was a disgrace

Treacy(73) 9 MOM for me. Caused them problems all night and looks just what we need down that flank. In 2 games he has set one up and scored - he will do for me [bigok]

Ward(88) 6 Ineffective from Saturday but did enough in regards to running at them. He didnt track back as often as he should and left gaping holes that luckily Walker got him out of

Evans 5. Like I say, if you are going to play hoof ball forget him. He likes to drop off Rooney esq and if you play it over his head he may aswell not be there

Henderson 6 No help from the ref once again and should have had a penalty.

Quinn(45) 8 Came one and played the best ive seen him for 6 months. Unlucky with a 40 yard volley

Reid(73) 5 No time to make an impact

Cotterill 7 Looked lively down that flank and looks back to form again
