Hadn't realised until just now that Doyle has signed for Pompey on a free. Must have been napping.

On the basis of this speculative piece in the Stir, Adkins also hasn't ruled out making formal bids for Lionel Messi and Christiano Ronaldo...

Agreed - but by this statement
Quote from: Adkins
We have a big squad of players and it is important to have a look at those we have got. By that, I mean in game-time.

You could also speculate we're not going to see any movement until he's seen a few games played!

Murphy will still be here when the season starts UNLESS BIG MONEY are offered (which is possible) but we do need depth in that position and Murphy has shown he can take knocks, so in my opinion we would only sign a LW for cover that or see Murphy drift to the RW OR if Baxter gets 6 month suspension use him in a AMC role  :whi

I did see this article last night (Nice to know that NA has been readng my posts  :DB ) http://www.teamtalk.com/sheffield-united/9905987/Sheffield-United-boss-Nigel-Adkins-has-spoken-to-several-players-as-he-bids-to-strengthen-his-squad this one line "I'm not going to give you a number, but it's fair to say that we need to improve the goals and we need to keep more clean sheets."

Sheffield United have agreed a 500,000 fee with Leeds United for striker Billy Sharp, according to Sky sources.- Just saw this come across the Twitter sphere

Wasn't a bad player at Leicester.....

True, but can't help feeling that we can do much better than sign a career 1 in 5 striker, even though he has never played in League 1.

A bit old but would he enhance the midfield?

Yes Eeyore, i can't disagree with you. If we get Sharp in do we need to sign another striker? I think we will have enough of them with McNulty, Done and Higdon as well. I know he can play right wing too but we have JCR and Flynn to do that and players like Done and Adams can play there too as well as up front. Get a decent CB in with Sharp and we'll be nearly set IMO

If true i fear We'll lose Murphy..... :(

Unless any offer for Murphy is ridiculously high then it just doesn't make any sense whatsoever in selling him. There have been rumours about other clubs showing interest in him but I haven't heard anything suggesting Murphy wants to leave and I was under the impression he is happy at the Lane so hopefully Woolford will be not a direct replacement.

We don't need high offers to sell our better players, history tells us that. Also, If the Woolford article is true why would NA put his own signing on the bench just as cover? he's going to want to make his own mark on the team.

I would agree with that a couple of seasons ago but since the Prince has come in I think there is more of a focus on keeping hold of the best players unless they want to leave or a big offer comes in - Harry Maguire. Early days under NA so let's see how things pan out  :ok:
