I agree, but I would like to see him play out on the left. I am not convinced that the right wing is his best position.

Had to love this from an article on Newsnow:

So a guy puts 90 pence on an 11 match accumulator at the weekend

At one stage, he's offered £1750 as a cash out for his 90p and he lets it go because a couple more scores go his way. He's holding out for £250,000 and it all looks like he's going to spank the bookies for a quarter of a million BUT......

Leon Clarke scores 4, so the ONLY ONE match that lets him down is Blades v Hull and who does the guy support? YES! Hull City!  :DD :DD :DD :DD :DD

He made a great comment afterwards, saying if it had come in he could have bought his own house and a Range Rover but now he has to stay with his mum and drive a Corsa  :DD :DD

hahahaha - we had that conversation in the pub before the game about the "mauled by the tigers" chant - utterly embarrassing!

I think Brooks is a more direct cover for Duffy

Agreed Roma, which is why I said "Duffy is keeping Brooks out of the team"  ;D ;D

I agree on Thomas too - he looks a very capable player. Maybe he could cover for Fleck if he has a tackle in him? He seems a strange signing to be honest because we just don't use wingers.

I think Brooks is a more direct cover for Duffy, although I also like to see Brooks deployed as a false 10 (damn I used the term) when he comes on for Sharp.

Carruthers for me sits somewhere between Fleck and Duffy in terms of his ability and approach.

I can see Lundstrum as a (albeit not quite so effective) cover for Coutts.

But I can't see a direct cover for Fleck, which to be honest isn't surprising as he's one of those fairly unique players.  We could always put a cheeky bid in for Barry fucking Bannan as cover for Fleck. He'd do alright in our U23s until needed

One player we haven't seen much of yet is Thomas.  He looks really promising and would love to see him develop into a first teamer, although I can't see where he would play as he's an out and out winger.  Maybe he can learn to adapt and play more central as cover for Duffy?

I'd also be looking at more cover for wing back.  We've seen how important this position is to our style of play and how vunerable we are to injuries in that position.  With the amount of work the WBs have to put in it's inevitible they're going to get knocks and strains.  So maybe a WB who can play left or right as cover (if such a thing exists - I played that role as a young man and it's true, I was equally shite left and right).

We also now need cover for Clarke... How about that fella playing in France - Neymar isn't it? He could learn alot as Leon's deputy  :ok:

How deluded?

1. They deserved to be in front
If the football gods wanted to punish us for not taking two (maybe three clear cut chances) then yes, they deserved to be in front (or we deserved to be behind).

2. They should have had a penalty
At first I thought they had a case.  On iFollow it looked a clear handball.  On the Sky highlights I still think it was handball, but it was just outside the area.

3. The referee was biased in our favour
Had he booked their player for the bad foul five minutes before he then did book him for a less bad foul they'd have been down to 10 men first half.

The only way that game could have been any better (other than taking more of our chances and making it 8 or 9) would have been if they'd done that cheesy "getting mauled by the tigers" chant when they were one up, to then get thoroughly humiliated Wendy bounce killer style...

Just read a Hull fan's blog on the match.

1. They deserved to be in front
2. They should have had a penalty
3. The referee was biased in our favour
4. They never get anything from refs at Bramall Lane
5. Finally he admits they were awful second half but despite saying the Hull MF was in full flow in the first half he gives SUFC no credit for the turnaround
6. Even after his team shipped 4 goals in one half he still referred to us (3 times at least) as "The Blunts"

Some people just aren't ready for day-release

A great win against a pretty poor side, and it could have been an absolute embarrassment for them if their keeper hadn't made some fantastic saves (with Blackman only on loan maybe we should look for a top quality keeper like him).

Burton, Fulham, Birmingham to come next. Anywhere between 7 and 9 points from those three will do for me  ;D

I thought we were off of our usual game first half, we still deserved a couple of goals though. Their goal happened because of poor positioning from Moore but other than  that they were very poor. Second half though we were back to that high pressing, high intensity game and Hull couldn't live with us or Clarke and for me was MOTM by a country mile. I said to my mate before the game that Clarke needed a goal today but I didn't expect 4 from him, when was the last time one of our strikers got 4...I can only remember Edwards v Gillingham in 1983 was it? Can we keep this up? hell yes but we need some top transfer action in Jan to give us a bigger chance.
