Title: Bolton v Blades - (first match of the season) - 6th Aug 2016
Post by: Vamps on June 28, 2016, 12:38:31 pm
OK - so we've talked about it as a possibility - who's up for a CB outing?

2ndly, what we doing about getting there. Any volunteer drivers or do the train (about £20 from what I've just looked at).

I'm certainly up for it cos I'm missing the first home game the following week.

I'm definitely up for it mate. Ash probably too (maybe the South Coast exile?)

I don't mind driving either as long as we stick to beers that are under 5%  :ok:

I'm in - if we get the train we can all drink whatever we like............and the Tap can welcome us back to celebrate our 1st 3 points of the season  :ok:

I'll be there along with the sprog providing some kind person can get me tickets. I have been offered a place in one of the corporate boxes, but declined as I don't like seeing grown men cry :^^ :^^

Not sure about car parking these days as they have sold off the big car park at the ground to save money. It is being developed into more new retail outlets.

I'll get tickets Bolts.

Horwich Parkway is the station for the ground? (Two and a quarter hours train journey each way with 2 changes at Manchester and Bolton  :yikes: )

the Beehive or the Barnstormers seem to be the best pubs for us unless we go a bit further out and find proper beer and then get taxis back to the ground?

Alternatively get The Tap to fill a few Growlers and we can have them on the train  :ok:

Overall I still fancy driving

Thanks Lings.

Horwich Parkway is correct. Not sure about having to change at Bolton. Most trains from Manc stop @ Horwich, unless this is a weekend restriction. I am sure that the last time we were there there were trains direct from Manc to Horwich.

Last time we went to the Brinsop Arms on the A6 which is only 10 mins walk to the ground. I believe that the Beehive is members only on matchdays. Not sure about the Barnstormers. I will check.

Tickets on sale from 1st August - £30 adults  :yikes: Don't think Bolton have remembered they were relegated to League 1!

Lots of talk on other forums of boycotting the game because of the ticket prices.....don't agree with that at all. Our most expensive Cat A ticket is £27 and it's only about £5 - £7 more than most other clubs in the league. Let's fill the away and and give great backing to the new era  :ok:

The cheapest tickets for Bolton fans is £28 for Cat A games. They won't get many going at that price.

Absolutely ridiculous! PL Fans have a campaign that says "Twenty is plenty" for an away ticket, yet the mighty Bolton Wanderers want 50% MORE than that for a League 1 encounter against a team that finished 11th last year!

See you at the Macron  :ok:

You still up for it Bolts?

£30 is ridiculous for a L1 fixture but it's a one off for the season as no other club will charge that much for a ticket......it's about £7 more than most away tickets, which equates to a couple of extra pints pre-match, which I'm sure the majority of fans would have no hesitation in paying, if they had time before KO to drink them.

...be rude not to!

Some of those nobs paid fortunes in train and petrol costs to go to see the 0-4 versus Gillingham, but they won't pay an extra few quid on the ticket price when we're just an hour away from Notlob? (Python reference)

Those "boycotting" were never going to go anyway imho. Bring it on!

UTB!

It is a silly amount of money for L1, but won't stop me going. Despite our pitiful performances in recent years, it still shows that clubs see us as the big boys in the league though.

See you there (that is if I'm not being sworn in as PM after everyone else has had a go!!)

Just checked on sufc.co.uk and our pay-on-the-day price to away fans for a Cat A game is 29 quid.

Strikes me as a little hypocritical to criticise Bolton for charging an extra quid.

Yes, I think English football overcharges fans, but to single out this game and Bolton doesn't make sense.  Will we be boycotting the next Cat A game at BDTBL in sympathy for the away fans?

Yes mate, for those who were never going to go to Bolton, the idea of a "boycott" gives them a get-out while preserving their "bladeness". We shouldn't be charging £29 at BDTBL (or even £27, the advance purchase price). £30 is a bit of a shocker and I agree we shouldn't just roll over and let Bolton tickle our tummies (they'd be tickling Vamps 'til Christmas!) but a boycott is only slightly less lame than waving a shoe.

The Beehive is the nominated away pub. As it is attached to a Premier Inn it will sell food. Still waiting for info about the Barnstormers....

SOLD OUT!!

I had a meeting brought forward so had to go down to Lincolnshire this morning but thought I'd easily get the tickets on the way back especially as the lower tier ones were to be sold first before the upper tier, where we want to be. On the way back I get a call from t' donkey saying the whole allocation of over 3000 was sold out!

there's 300 more being made available Weds morning so we're going to try to sort that out. So far I've managed to get 2 put aside from mates who had spares so we might only need 3.

I have a line into David Holdsworth (whose brother Dean is part of the consortium that bought Bolton of course) and we can get seats for their end with no problem.........but that's not ideal either after a few sherbets.

£30 a bloody ticket for Bolton and the whole lot were snapped up by late lunchtime on day 1  :yikes:

Ash spent nearly 2 hours queueing at BDTBL, about 15th in the line, waiting for sales to start at 09:00. There's a photo on one forum showing the queue stretching back past the "superstore" at 8am

At 09:02 they were told they were sold out due to online sales!

Why on earth couldn't they hold back some tickets for the poor sods who queued up?

OK then that's me in the Bolton seats. Vamps and Ash too. Bolts - you joining us?

Yep, that's me in the photo in the red shirt under the stadium plan near the front.

FFS Blades.........first of all why wait till only 100 tickets left on general sale before telling anyone and secondly, surely priority has to go to those who have made the effort to physically queue up rather than online or telephone sales. 300 tickets gone within 2 feckin minutes of the doors opening  )O( )O( )O( )O( )O( )O( )O( )O( )O( )O( )O( )O( )O(

500 more tickets on sale from 9am tomorrow, first come first served either in person, online or phone. Seeing as 300 sold by 9.02am today, I think online is the best chance of getting some but sadly I'm not around in the morning to sort

Looks like no other option. If I try and order on-line they have to be collected at BL before 13:00 Friday which I can't do.

How will you get the tickets as not on sale of day of match?

500 more tickets released for 9am tomorrow. I'll have a go but I'm not confident as my online account (like Ash's) somehow doesn't let me buy tickets online!

Worst case is I get Reg to sort tix in the home end with Dean H and we collect from the ground

Sorry it's not worked out as planned Bolts......at the end of the day we waited till tickets went on general sale so we could all be sat together. With the tickets being £30 there was no way we thought it would sell out but it has, and the communication from the ticket office has been shite in only announcing that they had almost sold out of the initial allocation when there were 100 left!!

Hopefully Vamps's traffic issues tomorrow will result in us getting what we all want but if not, we'll just have to grin and bear it in the Bolton end and have one lees beer beforehand so Lings doesn't behave in his usual thuggish way  :whi

Not to worry Ash and I do thank all of you that have tried to get tickets. If Bolton had just sent the 4,200 tickets in one go then none of this would have happened.

If Lings can't get any via the Houldsworth route, I have asked one of my golf colleagues if he can get me 2 tickets in a safe area, and he will. To get tickets you must be registered, or if not, you have to register with a Bolton area post code, or proof of address.

I do hope we can meet at the Beehive for a few pre-match sherberts.

Bolts, the Beehive is a family chain pub with a wacky warehouse which often means lousy ale. Does it have anything worth drinking? last time I went over there we ended up in the Poacher in Blackrod. Too far away?

The Beehive has cheap food and looks OK but it's worrying that it describes itself as a "PUB" but while there's no mention on the entire site about what beers they have, there's a whole page devoted to the Wacky Warehouse, and I worry that if Ash gets in there we'll never get him out of the piss-soaked ball pool (in every sense!!)

What's wrong with the Brinsop - about a 15 min walk away and if memory serves me right you can park there as well. Royal Oak just in the opposite direction as well
